Raised in Hialeah, Florida, Matthew spent much of his early years surrounded by horses and cows with dreams of becoming a professional rodeo cowboy. Despite his love for the arena, Matthew’s dreams quickly changed when he discovered his passion for the law after taking Introduction to Jurisprudence in high school. After graduating in 2015, Matthew continued his education at Lake-Sumter State College where he earned his associate’s degree, later moving to Gainesville where he completed his bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in communication studies at the University of Florida in 2019. Matthew kept busy in college by coaching the Pre-Legal Honor Society’s mock trial team and volunteering at University of Florida’s Student Legal Services.
During his time at the University of Iowa College of Law, Matthew worked as chair of the Mental Health Committee, legal researcher at the ACLU of Iowa, and peer advisor for Iowa Law Career Services. Matthew is always striving to improve his legal skills. Given Iowa Law’s reputation for producing great legal writers, it is not surprising that Matthew spent much of his time honing those skills in his coursework, through appellate advocacy, and as an editor of the Journal of Corporation Law. Matthew moved to Seattle following his law school graduation in 2023 and joined Causey Wright with the goal of using his legal skills to advocate for injured workers.
At this point, Matthew has traded in his saddles for a mountain bike. He also enjoys hiking the local trails and tinkering with electronics.
